Welcome to No Stairway...
When I was a little kid, my Dad played the guitar. From my earliest memory, both of my parents owned a guitar and I still play those same guitars today. Later in life, in my teenage years, my friends began to play and I picked up my first guitar when I was around 13 years old. I learned some Nirvana, Silverchair, Offspring, and Metallica and started to take lessons. I bought my first amp when I was 16, and have collected guitars and amplifiers ever since.
I am now 27 years old and I have been playing for 14 years. I have played in numerous bands, with amazing musicians for their age, and I have learned the hard way. I learned through trial and error, and by picking things up along the way when I encountered real, accomplished musicians. I learned things by seeing bands live, and studying the music of my favourite bands. However, just recently when I studied piano for 2 years, I took off in my ability. I started regularly playing in a band, and recording, practicing and playing music live. I started working alongside talented musicians like myself, and it has been great. I have never been more comfortable with my instrument.
Music has been proven to greatly improve the quality of one’s life. It is a part, even if just a little part, of everyone’s daily life. Whether you are listening in your car, or outside on the radio, attending church and hearing the choir weekly, or playing in a live band, music is everywhere.
Learning an instrument, especially a versatile instrument such as the guitar, can open up your world. You can gain confidence and new found ability, or just conquer a new challenge. You can say, once and for all, that you can play the guitar!
This is my goal for all my students. Here, at No Stairway, I teach guitar lessons and learning to play the guitar is simple and easy.
The guitar is one of the most beautiful and natural sounding instruments available to the modern musician. From its origins in the Middle Ages, through Country and Western music and later Folk, Rock and Blues…and even Jazz and Heavy Metal…the guitar has been a cardinal feature of modern music. It is ever-present in Churches, Bars, Beaches, Schools, Suburban Bedrooms, Festivals, Concerts….
Let me show you the tricks, the tips and the attitude that will make the guitar something that you can enjoy for years to come.
